The extraction of materials from high temperature/ high pressure subsea wells presents a variety of problems. Not least the cold external subsea environment, which leads to waxing and solidification within the flowline. The solution for thermal protection pipe-in-pipe systems is Harold Engineering Thermaspheres - to protect the flowline from the lower temperatures of the marine environment. This solution has been successfully applied on several occasions. The success or otherwise of such a solution is almost entirely predicated upon the choice of material chosen to fill the cavities between the flowline and the system's external pipeline. Thermaspheres have proved themselves to be the perfect filler for such a system. |
Characteristics: Low K value surpasses all other fillers when it comes to low thermal conductivity.
Low densities range from 0.50 to 0.80.
50% - 80% lighter than other possible pipe-in-pipe fillers. |
|
At least 1000% stronger than man-made glass spheres.
When installed, lend rigidity to the pipe-in-pipe system which prevents pipeline buckling in response to the high temperatures. |
